OLD WESTBURY, NY --- (www.OLDWESTBURYPANTHERS.com) SUNY Old Westbury men's soccer settled for a scoreless draw Wednesday evening with the United States Merchant Marine Academy Mariners (4-2-2, 0-1-1 Skyline) in Skyline Conference road action from Brooks Stadium & Captain James Harvey Tomb Field in Kings Point, New York. Old Westbury (4-4-1, 1-0-1 Skyline) had lost a 2016 matchup to USMMA in the Mariners' first year back as Skyline members.

Both teams played a scoreless opening period as USMMA totaled seven shots (three on goal) to Old Westbury's five (one on goal).

Old Westbury put the pressure on USMMA goalie Matthew Milner (4-2-2) by taking four shots (one on goal) during a 10-minute stretch early in the second half. The Panthers held a 4-3 advantage in shots during the second stanza as the game moved to overtime.

After a combined drought of 22:21 without a shot, Grixon Moreira fired an attempt on Milner 6:28 into the first overtime for the lone shot of the period.

The match was called at the end of 100 minutes of play after a lightning and heavy rain delay.

Panther goalie Mike Warren (4-4-1) and Milner both turned away three shots. The cleansheet was Warren's third straight and 12th of his career.

In the end, both teams drew even in shots (10-10) and shots on goal (3-3) while the Mariners controlled the corner with a 5-1 edge. Edens Avril paced Old Westbury with a game-high four shots (one on goal).

PURCHASE COLLEGE PANTHERS UP NEXT FOR OLD WESTBURY: Old Westbury returns to campus Saturday (Sept. 29) for a Skyline Conference Senior Day matchup against the Purchase College Panthers (3-2-1, 1-0-0 Skyline) at 12 p.m. from Panther Park. Since Purchase joined the Skyline, Old Westbury owns an 8-1-2 record dating back to 2007.
