OLD WESTBURY, NY --- (www.OLDWESTBURYPANTHERS.com) SUNY Old Westbury men's soccer remains unbeaten in Skyline Conference play after settling for a 1-1 draw at the end of two overtimes to the visiting Purchase College Panthers (3-2-2, 1-0-1 Skyline) on Senior Day from Panther Park. The tie makes Old Westbury (4-4-2, 1-0-2 Skyline) 8-1-3 against Purchase since 2007.

Prior to kickoff, seniors Edwin Argueta (2018), Wilson Martinez (2018), Ronald Monge (2015-18), Eric Ragogna (2015-18), Daniel Reiskin (2018), Alexander Routledge (2014, 2017-18), Chris Sanicola (2018), Matthew Strout (2017-18) and Mike Warren (2016-18) were honored for their dedication to Old Westbury Athletics with the annual Senior Day Ceremony.

After a scoreless first half, Old Westbury took the lead in the 71st minute with Edens Avril's header past Purchase goalie Jordan Meade (3-2-2) off a Rudy Velasquez free kick. A costly foul in the box granted a penalty kick to Yianni Amvrosiatos, who slipped the equalizer past Old Westbury goalie Mike Warren (4-4-2) at 72:34.

With the game headed the overtime, Old Westbury nearly ended it in the 97th minute as Nick Gino's header hit the crossbar.

Old Westbury settled for the 1-1 tie despite a valiant effort by Gino, who again, hit the crossbar by way of a header in the 109th minute.

Old Westbury finished with the advantage in shots (23-9), shots on goal (8-1) and corner kicks (8-3).

ST. JOSEPH'S (L.I.) COLLEGE GOLDEN EAGLES UP NEXT FOR THE PANTHERS: Old Westbury (4-4-2, 1-0-2 Skyline) remains at home Tuesday (Oct. 2) afternoon for a Skyline Conference matchup at 4 p.m. against the St. Joseph's College (L.I.) Golden Eagles (4-6-0, 2-2-0 Skyline). The Panthers are 2-2 versus St. Joseph's since 2014, including a 2-0 record at home during that stretch.
