@OW_Panthers Women’s Volleyball opens road trip at Baruch

Old Westbury continues its eight-game road trip Saturday (Sept. 8) in Allentown, Pennsylvania against Cedar Crest College and Immaculata University

MANHATTAN --- (www.OLDWESTBURYPANTHERS.com) SUNY Old Westbury women's volleyball opened their eight-game road trip Thursday evening with a 3-0 (27-25, 25-19, 25-11) non-conference loss to the Baruch College Bearcats (1-5) from ARC Arena in Manhattan.  With the setback, Old Westbury (1-3) is now 2-6 against Baruch since 2006.

Old Westbury served seven aces for its season-best set total in the opening stanza.  The Panthers followed with their best hitting set of the evening by attacking at a .200 clip to generate nine kills.  Old Westbury finished the match hitting .071 with 22 kills as Baruch hit .254 while holding the advantage in kills (47-22), assists (43-19), aces (13-9) and digs (55-42).  The Panthers totaled six blocks (three solo) compared to Baruch's one. 

Joelle Desrosiers registered 10 points with four kills (.308 hitting percentage), three aces, three blocks (two solo) and seven digs to lead Old Westbury.  Kyraleigh Zinnel served six aces and dished out nine assists to spark the offensive attack.  Kristin Grieshaber and Shanayia Lloyd each nailed down a team-best five kills as Sofia Goris' 14 digs captained the defense.

Katherine Chen's 27 assists moved the Bearcat offense while Anita Sengara racked up a match-high 22 kills.  Ada Cao served eight aces as Danielle Naggar recorded 18 digs.

CEDAR CREST COLLEGE FALCONS AND IMMACULATA UNIVERSITY MIGHTY MACS UP NEXT FOR THE PANTHERS: Old Westbury remains on the road Saturday (Sept.8) for a non-conference showdown against the Cedar Crest College Falcons (1-1) at 10 a.m. followed by the Immaculata University Mighty Macs (1-0) at 12 p.m. from Lees Hall in Allentown, Pennsylvania.
