Old Westbury travels Tuesday (Jan. 15) for a Skyline Conference matchup against Purchase College

OLD WESTBURY, NY --- (www.OLDWESTBURYPANTHERS.com) SUNY Old Westbury women's basketball lost the lead with 10 seconds remaining to drop a 77-75 Skyline Conference setback at home Saturday afternoon to the St. Joseph's College (Brooklyn) Bears (11-5, 8-2 Skyline) inside Clark Athletic Center.  The Panthers (11-4, 5-4 Skyline) are now 8-1 against the Bears since the 2014-15 campaign and have lost three games in a row for the first time since 2014-15.

Charlotte Renker dropped in a pair of layups to help Old Westbury jump out to an early 7-3 lead 1:42 in.  St. Joseph's answered with a 6-0 spurt to go up 9-7 before the Panthers scored 11-unanswered points to take a 20-9 advantage with 2:57 left in the first stanza.  St. Joseph's put together a 6-0 run in the final 59 seconds to trail 22-18 heading into the second period. Old Westbury built a seven-point cushion (27-20) at the 8:53 mark in the second quarter prior to the Bears constructed a 10-2 spurt during a stretch of 5:19 to pull ahead by one (30-29).  The Panthers outscored St. Joseph's 5-2 in the final 2:25 to lead 34-32 at intermission.

Monique Joseph dropped in a layup 1:38 into second-half play to give Old Westbury a 37-34 advantage.  Kelly O'Donnell finished a fastbreak with a layup 56 seconds later to ignite a 10-1 Bear run to grab a 44-38 lead.  After Tori Bellings dialed in from long distance to slice Old Westbury's deficit to four (51-47), St. Joseph's extended its lead to a game-high 13 points (60-47) with nine-straight points to end the third stanza.  St. Joseph's went up by 12 (62-50) with a Victoria Porcasi jumper at 9:35 before Renker scored five of Old Westbury's nine-unanswered points to go back up by two (75-73) with 19 seconds showing on the fourth-quarter clock.  Porcasi answered nine seconds later with the game-winning three-pointer to push St. Joseph's ahead by one (76-75). Trailing 77-75, Alexis Lopez's attempt from three-point land was blocked by Jamie Provino to secure the Bears' win.  

Joseph finished with 18 points, eight rebounds and three steals to lead Old Westbury.  Bellings scored 13 of her 17 points in the second half and nabbed three steals.  Davida Warren poured in 17 points (6-of-10 FG, 5-of-9 FT) and grabbed 12 rebounds to post her 10th-career double-double (sixth of season).  Renker chipped in 11 points, 20 rebounds and three blocks to register her 39th-career double-double (11th of the season).

Porcasi led all scorers with 20 points (8-of-16 FG, 3-of-6 3FG), six assists and two steals to pace St. Joseph's.  O'Donnell followed with 18 points, 16 rebounds and three steals. Caitlyn Staab contributed in 17 points, seven rebounds and two steals while Provino added 12 points and seven rebounds to the win.

Old Westbury finished the afternoon shooting 32.6 percent (28-of-86) from the field, 23.8 percent (5-of-21) from beyond the arc and 60.9 percent (14-of-23) from the free-throw line.  St. Joseph's connected on 37.5 percent (30-of-80) from the field, 33.3 percent (8-of-24) from three-point territory and 64.3 percent (9-of-14) from the charity stripe.  Old Westbury held a +20 rebound margin (66-46) while scoring 30 second-chance points off 28 offensive rebounds.  St. Joseph's outplayed Old Westbury in fastbreak points (19-16) while scoring 14 points off 17 Panther miscues. Old Westbury held the advantage in assists (18-17) and points in the paint (42-24). Both teams drew even in blocks (3-3), steals (8-8) and bench points (6-6).

PURCHASE COLLEGE PANTHERS UP NEXT FOR OLD WESTBURY: Old Westbury travels Tuesday (Jan. 15) to Purchase, New York for a Skyline Conference matchup against the Purchase College Panthers (7-6, 5-3 Skyline) at 8 p.m. inside Purchase College Gymnasium.  Old Westbury has won nine-straight games against Purchase dating back to the 2014-15 season.
