Pair of second-half goals push Women’s Soccer past Mount Saint Vincent

Old Westbury returns to campus Wednesday (Oct. 16) for a Skyline Conference showdown versus Manhattanville College

RIVERDALE, N.Y. --- (www.OLDWESTBURYPANTHERS.com) SUNY Old Westbury women's soccer used a pair of second-half goals to capture the 2-0 Skyline Conference road victory over the College of Mount Saint Vincent Dolphins (4-6-1, 1-4-0 Skyline) Saturday afternoon from Athletic Field at Marillac in Riverdale, New York.  With the win and five games remaining in the regular season, Old Westbury (8-6-0, 2-3-0 Skyline) is now sitting tied in sixth place alongside Purchase College in the league standings.

After a scoreless opening period, Jessica Pedroza found success for Old Westbury in the 47th minute as she slipped her first-career game-winning goal past Dolphin goalie Kora-Lynn McCullough (4-6-1).  The Panthers doubled its advantage at the 56:35 mark as Britney Graham put the finishing touches on Cara Normile's feed to settle the 2-0 final.

Cristina Britton and Alyssa Santeramo tested Panther goalie Yakeline Umanzor (7-3-0) with on-target shots in the 85th and 88th minute, respectively, in efforts of putting Mount Saint Vincent on the board.

Umanzor made four saves to earn her second-career shutout win for Old Westbury while McCullough sent away nine shots in defeat for Mount Saint Vincent.

At the end of 90 minutes, Old Westbury finished with the advantage in shots (15-10), shots on goal (11-4) and corner kicks (5-1).
