MANHATTAN --- (www.OLDWESTBURYPANTHERS.com) SUNY Old Westbury women's basketball picked up a 67-54 victory Tuesday evening on the road against the Yeshiva University Maccabees (1-5, 0-4 Skyline) in Skyline Conference action inside City College of New York's Nat Holman Gymnasium. With the win, the Panthers (2-3, 2-0 Skyline) improve to 9-0 against the Maccabees since Yeshiva returned to the Skyline in 2015-16.
With an evenly played opening 10:16 and Yeshiva holding the brief two-point lead (18-16),
Phalan Smith drained a jumper to ignite 10-0 run for Old Westbury to claim the lead for good (26-18) with 5:54 showing on the second-quarter clock. The Maccabees got in as close as five (30-25) at the 2:50 mark off a Leah Shulman three-pointer before
Micah Browne dropped in two with 28 seconds left to send the Panthers into the break with the seven-point advantage, 34-27.
1:59 into the third stanza, Adina Rosenberg sank a pair of free throws for Yeshiva to pull within six points (36-30). Browne laid in two that kickstarted a 17-4 spurt over the remaining 6:41 of third-quarter play for Old Westbury to build the 19-point cushion, 53-34.
Davida Warren's layup 31 seconds into the fourth extended the Panther lead to a game-high 20 points, 55-35. Tehilla Teigman finished Yuval Nitzan's feed to trim Yeshiva's deficit to 12 (56-44) at the 7:18 mark before Old Westbury maintained the double-digit lead in the remaining 6:40 to settle the 67-54 final.
Warren finished with 12 points and a game-high 20 rebounds to post her fourth double-double of the season (24th career) in leading Old Westbury. She added a game-high two blocks along with two steals to her statline.
Ashley Cattle followed with 12 points (5-of-8 FG) and five rebounds.
La'Niya Clark chipped in with 11 points and three assists while
Ja'nya Flash added nine points and 13 rebounds. Browne poured in nine points and dished out four assists.
Nitzan led all scorers with 16 points (7-of-8 FT) to pace Yeshiva.
In the end, Old Westbury finished the evening shooting 42.6 percent (26-of-61) from the field, 20 percent (1-of-5) from beyond the arc and 48.3 percent (14-of-29) from the free-throw line. Yeshiva connected on 30.5 percent (18-of-59) from the field, 27.3 percent (6-of-22) from three-point territory and 50 percent (12-of-24) from the charity stripe. Old Westbury held a +22 rebound margin (55-33) while scoring 17 second-chance points off 23 offensive rebounds. Old Westbury outplayed Yeshiva in assists (17-10), blocks (4-1), bench points (14-13), fastbreak points (4-0), and points in the paint (39-20) while scoring 25 points off 30 Maccabee miscues. Both teams were even in steals with 10 apiece.

Old Westbury returns to campus next Tuesday (Dec. 3) for a Skyline Conference Toys For Tots showdown against the Farmingdale State College Rams (3-3, 1-1 Skyline) at 6 p.m. from Clark Athletic Center. The Panthers will enter Tuesday's matchup 10-1 against the Rams dating back to the 2015-16 campaign.
