Old Westbury kicks off a three-game road trip Thursday (Mar. 28) starting with New Jersey City University

OLD WESTBURY, NY --- (www.OLDWESTBURYPANTHERS.com) SUNY Old Westbury baseball opened their 16-game home schedule Wednesday afternoon with a 9-7 setback against the Vassar College Brewers (8-7) in non-conference action from Jackie Robinson Athletic Complex. The Panthers (5-8-1) are now 2-3-1 versus Vassar since 2011.

Both teams put together big second innings with the Brewers holding a 6-5 lead.

After Vassar added a single run in the top of the third off reliever William Amendola (L, 0-1: 1.2 IP, 2 H, 2 R, 2 ER, K), the Panthers scored two in the bottom of the frame to tie the game (7-7).  Matthew Daulton (1-for-2, 2 R, 2 BB) scored on a infield grounder and Mike Manetta (2-for-5, R, 3 RBI) then delivered a game-tying RBI single to advance Drew Robertson across home plate.

Vassar scored for the third-straight inning and broke a 7-all tie in the fourth with a RBI single by Robert Pinataro off reliever Vinny Trovato (ND: 1.1 IP, 2 H) jumped the Brewers  in front, 8-7.

The Panthers fell behind by two (9-7) in the sixth as reliever Alipio Tiburcio (ND: 1 IP, 2 H, R, ER, K) surrendered a two-out run-scoring single to Pinataro to settle the final.

Sean Paprocki slapped a two-out double off Brewer reliever Dawson Dullnig (S, 1: 4 IP, H, BB, 2 K) to extend his hitting streak to eight games.
