Pair of hat tricks guide @OW_Panthers Women’s Lacrosse at Manhattanville

Old Westbury opens its six-game home schedule Wednesday (Mar. 13) with a non-conference showdown against Drew University

PURCHASE, NY --- (www.OLDWESTBURYPANTHERS.com) SUNY Old Westbury women's lacrosse were unable to hold a halftime lead Saturday afternoon en route to dropping a 12-8 non-conference road decision to the Manhattanville College Valiants (2-0) from GoValiants.com Field.  The Panthers (1-2) move to 0-4 all-time versus Manhattanville.

Monique Joseph broke the scoring ice 47 seconds in for Old Westbury's 1-0 lead.  Natasha Treuman then doubled Old Westbury's lead with a free-position goal at the 23:40 mark.  Bella Cosentio sliced Manhattanville's deficit in half by beating Panther goalie Tazmeya Allen (1-2) 51 seconds later.  Yaritza Carabello and Treuman went back-to-back on Valiant goalie Bella Marchiselli (2-0) to make it a 4-1 game.  Alessia Drevnyak scored a pair of goal in the final 5:57 to send Old Westbury into the half with a 6-4 lead.  

Drevnyak opened the second-half scoring with her first-career hat trick just 2:43 in push the lead to three (7-4).  Lara Keenan answered with five-straight goals capped by the game-winner with 12:51 showing on the second-half clock to give Manhattanville a 9-7 advantage.  Treuman scored her 30th-career hat trick 1:01 later to pull Old Westbury within one (9-8). Keenan scored two of Manhattanville's three tallies in the final 5:34 to secure the four-goal win.  

Allen made a program-record 26 saves to go with four ground balls while Marchiselli stopped 11 shots in the victory.  

The Panthers allowed a program-record 51 shots as Manhattanville finished with the advantage in shots (51-23), shots on goal (38-19), ground balls (21-18), draw controls (17-5) and caused turnovers (11-5).

Keenan fired 23 shots to finish with seven goals and controlled 10 draws.  

DREW UNIVERSITY RANGERS UP NEXT FOR THE PANTHERS: Old Westbury opens its six-game home schedule Wednesday (Mar. 13) with a non-conference showdown against the Drew University Rangers (5-0) at 4 p.m. from Panther Park.  The Panthers enter with a 0-5 all-time mark against Drew.
