Trio of hat tricks propels @OW_Panthers Women’s Lacrosse past Purchase on Senior Day

Old Westbury closes out its three-game homestand Wednesday (Apr. 17) with a Skyline Conference Autism Awareness Game against College of Mount Saint Vincent

OLD WESTBURY, NY --- (www.OLDWESTBURYPANTHERS.com) SUNY Old Westbury women's lacrosse collected an 18-5 Skyline Conference Senior Day victory over the Purchase College Panthers (1-7, 0-4 Skyline) Saturday afternoon inside Panther Park.  Old Westbury (3-9, 2-2 Skyline) improves to a 4-3 all-time mark against Purchase.

Prior to opening draw, Old Westbury celebrated its five-member 2019 Women's Lacrosse Senior Class consisting of Tori Bellings (2019), Erika Fonseca (2016-19), Monique Joseph (2019), Charlotte Renker (2019) and Natasha Treuman (2016-19) for their dedication to Old Westbury Athletics.

Old Westbury broke the scoring ice at the hands of Alessia Drevnyak 59 seconds into the opening half to spark an 8-0 run.  During the spurt, Drevnyak slipped one past Purchase goalie Brianna Pirozzi (1-7) at the 18:24 mark that proved to be game-winning goal.  Maddy Mecca ripped one past Old Westbury goalie Tazmeya Allen (3-9) with 16:14 remaining to put Purchase on the board.  Gabriella Castles scored Purchase's next two goals (13:51, 5:16) to trim the deficit to seven (10-3) before Jessica Pedroza and Hope Matthews combined for two goals over the final 4:26 to send a 12-3 game into the break.

Yaritza Caraballo completed her second-career hat trick 19 seconds into the second half before Natasha Treuman netted home back-to-back tallies (26:52, 23:53) to post her 34th-career hat trick.  Danielle Sarubbi took advantage of a woman-up situation with 19:49 remaining to make it a 15-4 game.  Over the final 11:28, Treuman provided a feed to Fonseca as she buried her first-career goal before Treuman took it herself to settle the 18-5 final.

Allen made five saves to secure Old Westbury's win as Pirozzi stopped seven shots in defeat for Purchase.

Old Westbury held the advantage in shots (31-14), shots on goal (25-10), ground balls (19-11), draw controls (16-9) and caused turnovers (11-5).

In addition to scoring six goals and dishing out one assist, Treuman controlled a game-high nine draws to go along with two caused turnovers.  Drevnyak followed with four goals to post her third-career hat trick while Joseph chipped in with two goals and three draw controls. Renker contributed with career highs of four ground balls and three caused turnovers.

Gabriella Castles finished with three goals and two draw controls while Brett Robison scooped up a game-high five ground balls to pace Purchase.
