NEW ROCHELLE, NY --- (www.OLDWESTBURYPANTHERS.com) SUNY Old Westbury baseball captured a 4-1 non-conference road victory Friday afternoon against the College of New Rochelle Blue Angels (3-24) from Flowers Park in New Rochelle, New York. With the win, the Panthers (16-14-1) move to 1-0 against the Blue Angels.

After a scoreless three innings, Old Westbury broke the scoring ice in the fourth scoring the game's initial run. Brandon Wilson (1-for-2, R, BB) earned a leadoff walk and then advanced two bases off of John Condon's ground out and a passed ball by catcher Thomas Velazquez. Two batters later, Wilson scored off Joshua Cruz's ground out for the early 1-0 lead.

The Panthers got to starter James Jiggetts III (L, 0-2: 8 IP, 7 H, 4 R, 3 ER, 2 BB, 3 K) with two runs scored in the fifth frame. Mike Manetta (1-for-5, R, RBI, SB) extended his hitting streak to nine games with a run-scoring single to center field to push across Sean Paprocki (1-for-4, R, SB) for the game-winning run. Condon (1-for-4, RBI) kept his hitting streak alive to push it to 11 games with a RBI single to round Manetta home for the three-run advantage.

New Rochelle broke into the scoring column with an unearned run as Velazquez's sacrifice fly out plated home Darwin Nivar to make it a 3-1 game.

With one-out and runners at second and third, Paprocki used a sacrifice fly out to score Shaun Kaminski (1-for-4, R) and settle the 4-1 final.

Panther starter Patrick Quinn (W, 3-2: 9 IP, R) fired a career-best nine strikeouts (one walk) and scattered five hits to earn his second-career complete game win. Blue Angel reliever Justin Grullon gave up a ninth inning single to Drew Robertson in one inning of relief.
