@OW_Panthers Women’s Lacrosse closes out Skyline road slate at St. Joseph’s (L.I.)

Old Westbury will close out the regular season Saturday (Apr. 27) with a Skyline Conference showdown against Farmingdale State College

PATCHOGUE, NY --- (www.OLDWESTBURYPANTHERS.com) SUNY Old Westbury women's lacrosse fell 20-4 Tuesday afternoon to the St. Joseph's College (L.I.) Golden Eagles (7-5, 5-2 Skyline) in Skyline Conference road action from Danzi Stadium in Patchogue, New York.  The Panthers (3-11, 2-4 Skyline) are 0-9 all-time against the Golden Eagles.

Lauryn Gregson buried Tori Staker's feed 33 seconds into the opening half to give St. Joseph's early advantage before Alessia Drevnyak evened the score 2:11 later with her 18th goal of the season.  Trailing 4-1 with 14:27 remaining, Yaritza Caraballo dished out her personal-best and team-leading sixth assist of the season to Ryan Burmann for the Panthers to pull within two goals (4-2).  The Golden Eagles put together an 8-0 spurt over the next 8:01 as Ashley Fisch's tally at the 13:31 mark proved to be the game winner for the 5-2 lead.  Hope Matthews slipped one past Golden Eagle goalie Lindsay Ramos (7-5) with 2:48 showing on the first-half clock before St. Joseph's netted back-to-back goals over the final 1:09 to send a 14-3 game into the break.

St. Joseph's outscored Old Westbury 6-1 in the second half as Natasha Treuman accounted for the Panthers' lone goal at 4:27 to settle the 20-4 final.

Tazmeya Allen (3-10) made 14 saves in defeat for Old Westbury as Ramos turned away nine shots and scooped up a game-high seven ground balls to secure St. Joseph's win.

The Golden Eagles held the advantage in shots (39-17), shots on goal (34-13), ground balls (25-17), draw controls (17-8) and caused turnovers (10-4).

Matthews controlled four draws while while Sara Russo chipped in a career-best four ground balls to pace Old Westbury.

Staker finished with game highs of six goals, five assists and 10 draw controls while Nicole Stoppelli followed with five goals to lead St. Joseph's.

FARMINGDALE STATE COLLEGE RAMS UP NEXT FOR THE PANTHERS: Old Westbury returns to campus to close out the regular season Saturday (Apr. 27) with a Skyline Conference showdown against the Farmingdale State College Rams (5-10, 4-1 Skyline) at 12 p.m. from Panther Park.  The Panthers are 0-6 all-time versus Farmingdale State.
