Men’s Soccer draws with Mitchell

Old Westbury travels Mahwah, New Jersey next Wednesday (Sept. 18) for a non-conference battle versus Ramapo College

NEW LONDON, Conn. --- (www.OLDWESTBURYPANTHERS.com) SUNY Old Westbury men's soccer settled for a 1-1 draw at the end of two overtime periods Saturday afternoon with the Mitchell College Mariners (1-2-1) in non-conference road action from Yarnall Athletic Center in New London, Connecticut.  The tie moves Old Westbury (2-2-1) to a 2-0-1 mark against Mitchell dating back to the 2017 season.

Old Westbury scored an own goal in the 32nd minute for the early 1-0 lead.  Mitchell responded with the equalizer as a foul in the box in the 46th minute awarded William Ferguson with a penalty kick for a strike past Panther goalie James Perciballi (2-2-1).  The Panthers held the shot advantage in the opening half, courtesy of Kejiel Watt's with four shots (two on goal), before the Mariners attempted four shots on goal to test Perciballi in the second stanza to send the 1-1 game into extras.

After both teams not recording a single shot in the first overtime, Mitchell attempted five in the second overtime, including James Shea's shot landing on target in the 107th minute.

Perciballi made six saves while Michael Kennedy (0-0-1) sent away three shots in a complete-game effort for Mitchell.

After 110 minutes of action, Mitchell held the advantage in shots (16-7), shots on goal (7-3) and corner kicks (9-1).
