Women’s Volleyball tangles with William Paterson

Old Westbury returns to campus next Saturday (Sept. 21) to host a non-conference tri-match against Medgar Evers College and York College

WANYE, N.J. --- (www.OLDWESTBURYPANTHERS.com) SUNY Old Westbury women's volleyball fell in four sets (25-13, 23-25, 25-18, 25-18) on the road to the William Paterson University Pioneers (4-3) in non-conference action inside Sports & Recreation Center in Wayne, New Jersey.
 
Old Westbury (1-2) put together their finest hitting set in the second stanza to attack at a rate of .361 before finishing the match at .215.  William Paterson hit at .304 while holding the advantage in kills (53-45), aces (16-5), assists (46-39) and digs (69-53).  The Panthers held the edge in blocks (3-1).
 
Kristin Grieshaber registered a career-best 13 kills to go along with nine digs and two aces to lead Old Westbury.  Ally Parker followed with career highs of 15 assists and 11 digs to post her first-career double-double.  Joelle Desrosiers and Daesha Garrison each nailed dow 12 kills apiece.  Kyraleigh Zinnel directed the Panther offense with 20 assists while Hillary Bennett scooped a career-best 18 digs.
 
Alyson Toman recorded a match-high 17 kills to hit .500 as Kristin Volavka's 42 assists captained William Paterson's offense. Jamie O'She aadded 16 kills while Alexa Houston racked up 10 kills and match-best 19 digs to contribute to the Pioneers' win.
