Women’s Soccer falls to Rutgers-Newark in overtime

Old Westbury travels to Newark, New Jersey on Sunday (Sept. 22) for its Skyline Conference opener against Yeshiva University

OLD WESTBURY, N.Y. --- (www.OLDWESTBURYPANTHERS.com) SUNY Old Westbury women's soccer lost a 1-0 overtime decision to the visiting Rutgers-Newark Scarlet Raiders (5-3-0) Tuesday afternoon in non-conference action from Panther Park. 
 
In a match dominated by Rutgers-Newark, Panther goalie Yakeline Umanzor (3-1-0) made a career-best six saves in an effort to keep the Scarlet Raiders off the board.
 
Rutgers-Newark outshot Old Westbury 6-0 in the first half and 10-0 before Shauna Henderson (88th minute) and Bernadelle Dorvil (90th minute) put the Panthers in the shot column heading into overtime tied at 0-0.  The Scarlet Raiders broke though in the 94th minute when Bailey Kellenberger beat Umanzor off a feed from Tamia Howell to secure the win.
 
Rutgers-Newark held the advantage in shots (17-2), shots on goal (7-1) and corner kicks (9-1).
 
Heidi Paulson (5-2-0) stopped on shot to earn the cleansheet in a complete game outing for Rutgers-Newark.
 
UP NEXT:
Old Westbury opens a two-game road trip Sunday (Sept. 22) starting with its Skyline Conference opener against the Yeshiva University Maccabees at 1 p.m. from Alumni Field in Newark, New Jersey.  The Panthers will enter Sunday's matchup with an 8-3-0 all-time mark in their Skyline openers.
