Women’s Volleyball sweeps past Yeshiva in Skyline opener

Old Westbury returns to action Wednesday (Sept. 25) for a Skyline battle against the defending champions College of Mount Saint Vincent

OLD WESTBURY, N.Y. --- (www.OLDWESTBURYPANTHERS.com) SUNY Old Westbury women's volleyball opened Skyline Conference play Sunday afternoon at home defeating the Yeshiva University Maccabees (0-11, 0-6 Skyline) in three straight sets (25-4, 25-8, 25-7) inside Clark Athletic Center.

Old Westbury (4-2, 1-0 Skyline) came out singing in the opening set, landing eight kills on 14 attempts to hit a match-best .571 before finishing the day hitting .417 compared to Yeshiva's -.366.  The Panthers held the advantage in kills (23-7), aces (27-1), blocks (5-1) and assists (19-5) while the Maccabees held the edge in digs (19-11).

Kristin Grieshaber led the way for Old Westbury with a career-high 12 aces to go along with three kills.  Kyraleigh Zinnel followed with six kills on eight swings at a career-best .750 clip to go with 11 assists, seven aces and three digs.  Joelle Desrosiers chipped in with five kills while Daesha Garrison nailed down four kills and served four aces.  Danielle Corsi contributed with a match-high three blocks.

Tehilla Teigman scooped up a match-high nine digs to go with three kills to pace Yeshiva.

Old Westbury travels Wednesday (Sept. 25) for a Skyline Conference showdown against the defending champions College of Mount Saint Vincent Dolphins at 7 p.m. inside Peter Jay Sharp Center in Riverdale, New York.
