Women’s Volleyball battles defending Skyline champion Mount Saint Vincent

Old Westbury remains on the road Sunday (Sept. 29) for a non-conference tri-match with NHTI and Five Towns College

RIVERDALE, N.Y. --- (www.OLDWESTBURYPANTHERS.com) SUNY Old Westbury women's volleyball fell in three set (11-25, 19-25, 16-25) on the road to the defending Skyline Conference champion College of Mount Saint Vincent Dolphins (9-5, 3-0 Skyline) Wednesday evening inside Peter Jay Sharp Center in Riverdale, New York.
 
Mount Saint Vincent hit .347 with 38 kills on 75 attempts compared to Old Westbury's (4-3, 1-1 Skyline) -.053 attacking percentage with 12 kills on 57 attempts.  The Dolphins held the advantage in aces (11-6), assists (34-10) and digs (27-21) while both teams drew even with five blocks apiece.

Daesha Garrison led the way for Old Westbury with five kills on 18 swings to go along with three blocks. Kyraleigh Zinnel followed with nine assists, six digs and three aces while Joelle Desrosiers chipped in with seven digs, three kills and two blocks.
 
Tara Maloney had a match-high 12 kills to go along with two aces in leading Mount Saint Vincent.  Dez Brown and Samantha Schroeder each added eight kills.  Madison Gale's game-high 25 assists directed the offense while Sayde McDermott and Alexandra Rio's seven digs each paced the Dolphin defense.

Old Westbury remains on the road Sunday (Sept. 29) for a non-conference tri-match with the NHTI Lynx at 1 p.m. followed by the Five Towns College Sound at 3 p.m. inside Five Towns College Gymnasium in Dix Hills, New York.
