Women’s Soccer tallies quick score against John Jay

Old Westbury travels Wednesday (Oct. 2) for a Skyline Conference battle against Sarah Lawrence College

OLD WESTBURY, N.Y. --- (www.OLDWESTBURYPANTHERS.com) SUNY Old Westbury women's soccer dropped a 5-2 non-conference decision at home to the John Jay College Bloodhounds (5-4-0) Saturday afternoon from Panther Park.  Old Westbury (5-4-0) entered the day with a 4-1 record versus John Jay dating back to the 2011 season.

Old Westbury took the 1-0 lead 3:01 in with a Brianna Williams' header past Bloodhound goalie Brittany Shaneberger (3-2-0).  The tally was Williams' second goal of the season, 10th of her career.  John Jay responded with the equalizer as Katie Healy put away Medina Mulic's feed in the 16th minute.  The Bloodhounds' then scored three-straight goals courtesy of Jillian Golden (33:28) and Kimberly Robledo (42:37, 43:29) to send the 4-1 game into intermission.

Mia Almonte slipped her team-leading ninth goal on the season past Bloodhound netminder Erika Estro in the 58th minute before Robledo completed her hat trick in the 80th minute to settle the 5-2 final.

Panther goalie Moira Nolan (1-2-0) made one save in 38:57 minutes of action before Yakeline Umanzor sent away one shot in 51:03 minutes in net.  Shaneberger and Estro didn't register a save to secure the win for John Jay.

At the end of 90 minutes, John Jay finished with the advantage in shots (22-4), shots on goal (7-2) and corner kicks (5-0)

UP NEXT:
Old Westbury travels Wednesday (Oct. 2) for a Skyline Conference battle with the Sarah Lawrence College Gryphons at 7 p.m. from Fleming Field in Yonkers, New York.  The Panthers will enter Wednesday's matchup with a 3-2-0 mark against the Gryphons dating back to the 2014 campaign.
