Women’s Soccer battles New Paltz on the road

Old Westbury opens two-game homestand Saturday (Sept. 7) with a non-conference showdown versus City College of New York

NEW PALTZ, N.Y. --- (www.OLDWESTBURYPANTHERS.com) SUNY Old Westbury women's soccer dropped a 9-0 final Wednesday afternoon to the SUNY New Paltz Hawks (1-2-0) in non-conference road action from South Turf Field in New Paltz, New York.  The loss moves the Panthers (1-1-0) to 0-2 against the Hawks dating back to 2012. 
 
Panther goalie Moira Nolan (0-1-0) conceived the game-winning goal 5:03 in with a tally by Siena Diaz-Colonfor the Hawks' 1-0 lead.  New Paltz took a 3-0 lead into intermission with goals by Sky Pedroza and Katie Buquicchioin the 31st and 32nd minutes, respectively.
 
The Hawks put six second-half goals past Panther netminder Yakeline Umanzor capped by Ally Donovan burying Annaliese Gorr's feed in the 86th minute to settle the 9-0 final.
 
Nolan registered one save while Umanzor sent away four shots in defeat for Old Westbury.  Megan Tornatore claimed New Paltz's shutout win after not recording a save.
 
New Paltz finished with the advantage in shots (34-0), shots on goal (14-0) and corner kicks (10-1).
 
UP NEXT:
Old Westbury opens two-game homestand Saturday (Sept. 7) with a non-conference showdown against the City College of New York Beavers starting at 12 p.m. from Panther Park.  The Panthers will enter Saturday's matchup holding a 3-2 record over the Beavers dating back to 2010.
