Women’s Basketball collides with Mount Saint Vincent on Senior Day

Old Westbury closes out its regular season home slate Tuesday (Feb. 18) with a Skyline Conference Play4Kay battle versus Yeshiva University

OLD WESTBURY, N.Y. --- (www.OLDWESTBURYPANTHERS.comSUNY Old Westbury women's basketball suffered a 72-54 Skyline Conference home loss to the College of Mount Saint Vincent Dolphins (13-9, 11-7 Skyline) on Senior Day Saturday afternoon inside Clark Athletic Center. Despite the setback, Old Westbury (9-14, 9-9 Skyline) clinched a berth in the upcoming Skyline Conference Championship, sitting in sixth place in the league standings.

Prior to tip off, seniors Marva Dudley-Adams (2017-18, 2019-20) and Davida Warren (2016-20) were honored with the annual Senior Day Ceremony for their dedication to the Old Westbury women's basketball program.

Warren finished with 22 points (7-of-19 FG, 8-of-13 FT), career-best 24 rebounds (15 offensive) and three blocks to post her 37th-career double-double (17th on season). La'Niya Clark followed with 11 points, five rebounds, four steals and three assists.

DarNeisha Brice finished with 22 points, nine assists (game-high), seven rebounds and two steals to pace Mount Saint Vincent. Kira Villegas contributed 20 points (4-of-6 3FG), six rebounds, two blocks and two steals while Aria Rheams chipped in 15 points (5-of-9 FG, 5-of-5 FT) and 13 rebounds. Victoria Hanley pulled down 13 rebounds and dished out six assists.


In the end, Old Westbury shot 28.6  percent (20-of-70) from the field, 18.8 percent (3-of-16) from three-point territory and 64.7 percent (11-of-17) from the free-throw line.  By comparison, Mount Saint Vincent connected on 39.4 percent (28-71) from the floor, 35 percent (7-of-20) from beyond the arc and 69.2 (9-of-13) from the charity stripe. Old Westbury won the boards battle, 51-49, while scoring 17 second-chance points off 23 offensive rebounds. The Panthers outplayed Mount Saint Vincent in blocks (5-2), points in the paint (30-28) and bench points. Mount Saint Vincent held the edge in assists (19-14) and fastbreak points (8-2) while scoring nine points off 16 Panther miscues. Both teams drew even with seven steals apiece
