Alleyne-Washington’s double-double fuels Men’s Basketball to regular-season finale triumph at St. Joseph’s (Brooklyn)

Old Westbury will play as the No. 4 seed in next week’s Skyline Conference Championship starting Tuesday (Feb. 25) with quarterfinal home action

BROOKLYN, N.Y. --- (www.OLDWESTBURYPANTHERS.comSUNY Old Westbury men's basketball maintained a double-digit lead over the final 35:35 to conclude the regular season Saturday afternoon with a 66-51 Skyline Conference road win over the St. Joseph's College (Brooklyn) Bears (8-17, 4-12 Skyline) inside The Hill Center in Brooklyn, New York. The Panthers (15-10, 11-5 Skyline) are now 9-2 against the Bears dating back to the 2015-16 campaign.

Old Westbury will play as the No. 4 seed in next week's Skyline Conference Championship starting Tuesday (Feb. 25) with a home quarterfinal matchup against the fifth-seeded and defending champions Farmingdale State College Rams (13-12, 9-7 Skyline) at 7 p.m. inside Clark Athletic Center.

Justin Alleyne-Washington led all scorers with 20 points (7-of-14 FG, 3-of-3 FT) and 10 rebounds to post his 14th-career double-double. Pedro Marquez followed with 19 points (8-of-13 FG, 3-of-6 3FG), five rebounds, five assists and three steals. Cameron Winston chipped in 12 points (5-of-10 FG), four rebounds and three steals off the bench while Pierrce Perry swatted away a game-high three shots.
 
Dimitri Sirakis finished with 14 points while Stephane Etheart pulled down a game-high 12 rebounds to pace St. Joseph's. 

In the end, Old Westbury finished the afternoon shooting 43.3 percent (26-of-60) from the field, 33.3 percent (7-of-21) from beyond the arc and 50 percent (7-of-14) from the free-throw line.  St. Joseph's connected on 26.7 percent (16-of-60) from the field, 19.2 percent (5-of-26) from three-point territory and 73.7 percent (14-of-19) from the charity stripe.  St. Joseph's held a narrow +1 rebound margin (43-342) while scoring 14 second-chance points off 17 offensive rebounds.  Old Westbury outplayed St. Joseph's assists (12-10), blocks (4-0), steals (9-7), fastbreak points (13-2), bench points (18-13) and points in the paint (36-18) while scoring 19 points off 18 Bear miscues.
