Women's Basketball Falls at Sarah Lawrence

The Old Westbury women's basketball team dropped a Skyline Conference matchup against Sarah Lawrence College Wednesday night, moving to 5-8 on the season (4-7 Skyline).

The Panthers got off to a quick start, opening the game with an 11-2 run. Old Westbury held the lead through the first 25 minutes of the game, with the largest lead at 30-21 with 2:44 remaining in the second quarter, before a 7-0 run by the Gryphons brought them within two points going into halftime. Sarah Lawrence took the lead 35-34 on a layup by Lexie Wingerter with 4:32 left in the third quarter, and held onto the lead for the remainder of the game.

Ja'nya Flash led the scoring for all players with 18 points, along with eight rebounds, four assists, and two blocks. Cherish Francis and Ashley Cattle each added 10 points. 

Kumi Tamura led the scoring for Sarah Lawrence with 17 points, six rebounds, and five assists. The Gryphons were able to convert 26 Old Westbury turnovers into 28 points of their own. Jordyn Medina had eight steals for Sarah Lawrence. Rebounds were even for the two teams at 39 each, but the Gryphons outscored the Panthers in the paint 32-22.

Farmingdale, N.Y. - As of Monday, December 20th, there will be no fan permitted at any Farmingdale State College home athletic contests until further notice. 

The following guidelines for visiting teams remain in place.

Statement Regarding Visiting Teams - Winter 2021-22

1. All tier 1 personnel teams must be vaccinated or following Skyline testing protocols.

2. All tier 1 personnel must wear masks indoors at all times regardless of your vaccination status, other than when practicing or competing. This includes on the bench during games.

3. Visiting teams will be provided a locker room; however, use of the showers before/after games is not permitted.

4. Visiting teams are not permitted to eat in Nold Hall.
