The Old Westbury men's basketball team topped St. Joseph's Brooklyn by a score of 81-78 on Saturday evening. The Panthers move to 10-11 overall, 6-8 in Skyline conference play.
Zachary Cummings led the scoring for the Panthers with 25 points, including a career high seven three-pointers.
Jonathan Jamieson scored his first double-double of the season with 22 points and 10 rebounds, along with four assists.
Charles Wingate scored 18 points, and
Nigel Carter added 10.
Chris Mikos led the scoring for the Bears with a double-double of 27 points and 10 rebounds, shooting 10-16 from the field. The Bears outrebounded the Panthers 41-35 and scored 44 points in the paint.
Old Westbury played through a tight first half shooting just 37.1% compared to St. Joseph's 53.6%. The teams were tied going into halftime 38-38. In the second half, the Panthers improved their shooting to 45.5% and held the lead for all but 35 seconds through the latter half of the game.
