Wingate Scores 1,000 Career Points

The Old Westbury men's basketball team dropped a game in overtime against Mount Saint Vincent, 87-81.

Charles Wingate scored his 1,000th career point in the second minute of overtime. Wingate entered the game 10 points shy of the milestone, after scoring a career-high 35 points in Old Westbury's previous game. In today's contest, he totaled 15 points with four rebounds and two assists.

Jonathan Jamieson led the scoring for the Panthers with 20 points along with five rebounds and three steals. Jordan Johnson-Rader scored his third double-double of the season with 11 points and 13 rebounds. Zachary Cummings and Nigel Carter contributed 13 points and 16 points, respectively.

Four Dolphins scored double-digit points in today's matchup. Dan Porcic led Mount Saint Vincent with 24 points, including four three-pointers. Aaron Darab and Dorian Robinson each totaled 17 points, and Elijah McKenzie added 12 points.

Mount Saint Vincent held the lead through the first quarter of the game, and held a nine point lead with 13:07 remaining in the first half. Old Westbury then went on a 19-8 run to take the lead 30-28 at the 5:28 mark and kept the lead through the half.

The second half of the game had 10 lead changes as the the teams battled. Both teams improved their field goal percentage from the first half. Mount Saint Vincent shot 50% in the second half, compared to 35.5% in the first; Old Westbury was 55.6% compared to 40%.

Old Westbury took a three point lead with 10 seconds remaining after Nigel Carter went 2-2 at the free-throw line. Dan Porcic knocked down his third three-pointer of the game for the Dolphins with three seconds remaining to tie the score 70-70 and send it into overtime. Mount Saint Vincent ultimately came out on top, as the Panthers shot just 2-7 from the field in overtime.

SUNY Old Westbury remains in the Yellow Status of its Campus Engagement Plan through February 9, 2022. At this time, spectators are not permitted at Old Westbury home games on the SUNY Farmingdale campus. Spectators will be permitted at events starting on February 10, 2022, in the event that the SUNY Old Westbury Campus Engagement Plan returns to a Green Status at that time. 


Statement Regarding Visiting Teams - Winter 2021-22

1. All tier 1 personnel teams must be vaccinated or following Skyline testing protocols.

2. All tier 1 personnel must wear masks indoors at all times regardless of your vaccination status, other than when practicing or competing. This includes on the bench during games.

3. Visiting teams will be provided a locker room; however, use of the showers before/after games is not permitted.

4. Visiting teams are not permitted to eat in Nold Hall.
