Ritter Extends Hitting Streak to 11 Games

The Old Westbury baseball team lost a non-conference contest against Ramapo College on Tuesday afternoon. The Panthers move to 4-8 on the season.

Patrick Quinn took the loss on the mound for Old Westbury, allowing two runs (one earned) and striking out four batters across two innings pitched. 

Dan Russo threw a no-hitter through the first six innings for Ramapo College. He earned the win on the mound with seven innings pitched, two earned runes, and seven strikeouts.

Tyler Guadagno led off the bottom of the first inning with a double to center field for the Roadrunners. Dominick Ciana followed up with a single to center field to score the first run of the game. In the bottom of the second inning, Ramapo scored an unearned run on a passed ball.

Ramapo had a five run bottom of the third inning. Frank Whitenack entered in relief for Patrick Quinn and surrendered five earned runs on two hits and three walks.

Jamal Ritter (1-for-3, R) broke up Russo's no-hitter to lead off the top of the seventh inning, to extend his hitting streak to 11 games. Ritter hit a double to center field, and advanced to third on a single by Paul DePaulis (1-for-3, R). Ritter scored later in the inning on a passed ball.  Jacob Ford (2-for-4, RBI, R) hit an RBI single to score DePaulis, before scoring himself on a RBI ground out by Jaime Barrios (0-for-4, RBI).

The Panthers scored their final run of the game in the top of the eighth inning. Wilmer Cuevas (0-for-2, R) reached on a error, and advanced to third on Patrick Schriffen's (1-for-3) double to left field. Aaron Castillo (0-for-2, RBI) hit a sacrifice fly to score Cuevas.
