Reilly Hits Walk-Off in Split with St. Joseph's Brooklyn

The Old Westbury softball team split a Skyline Conference doubleheader against St. Joseph's Brooklyn on Tuesday evening. The Panthers move to 1-5 in conference play.

Game One: Old Westbury 0, St. Joseph's 8
The Bears scored three runs in the top of the first inning off of three hits, including two doubles. A throwing error in the second inning, and obstruction in the base path allowed four unearned runs to cross the plate, and the visitors tacked on another in the fourth inning.

Old Westbury scattered five hits throughout the game. Natalie Intrieri took the loss on the mound allowing eight runs, three earned, through five innings. 

Game Two: Old Westbury 5, St. Joseph's 4
St. Joseph's scored first in game two with one run in the first inning off of a single followed by a double. Old Westbury tied the game in the bottom of the third inning. Heather Dillon walked and stole second. She advanced to third on a groundout by Jessica Tucci, and Shannon Myles brought the run home witha. single up the middle.

The Bears responded with three runs in the top of the fourth inning to take a 4-1 lead. They put together four hits, and a fielding error allowed two unearned runs to score. Old Westbury scored a run of their own in the bottom half of the inning. Morgan Danin led off with a single to left field, and Najeri Felton entered as a pinch runner. Gianna Ventiere and Hillary Bennett hit back-to-back singles to score Felton.

Old Westbury entered the bottom of the seventh inning trailing 4-2. Heather Dillon reached base to start the inning on a error by the second baseman. Jessica Tucci hit a single to right center to move Dillon to third base; Sara Welti pinch ran for Tucci. Natalie Intrieri hit into a fielder's choice to the shortstop, and Dillon was tagged out advancing to home.

With Welti on third base and Intrieri on second, Shannon Myles hit a triple over to the center field fence to tie the game 4-4. Alaina Reilly hit a single up the middle to score Myles for the walk-off win.

Gianna DiLillo took the win on the mound for the Panthers. She allowed four runs, two earned, on eight hits with two strikeouts through seven innings pitched.
