The Old Westbury women's soccer team opened up the season with a Skyline Conference win over Yeshiva University by a score of 9-0 on Sunday afternoon.
Bernadelle Dorvil opened up the scoring in the 11th minute, and
Melanie Escobar added another goal just 40Â seconds later. Dorvil and Escobar each finished with two goals.
Senior
Mia Almonte led the way for the Panthers with a career-high four goals and two assists, for 10 points on the day.
Jessica Pedroza tallied three assists, all contributing to goals from Almonte. Senior defender
Nicole Abalco assisted Almonte's first goal of the match.
Jennifer Zeron-Salmeron found the back of the net off a penalty kick after a Yeshiva handball in the 18-yard box.
Goalkeeper
Jennifer Pasquariello collected two saves through the full 90 minutes in net.
The Panthers return to action on Thursday, September 8th at Five Towns College, scheduled for a 4:30 PM kickoff.
