Seo, Martini, Mendyk earn all-conference nods; Massman named Coach of the Year

Bethpage, New York | October 24, 2023 | The SUNY Old Westbury Panther men's golf team earned a second place finish in the overall team competition at the 2023 Skyline Conference Championships, the best finish in program history.

In doing so, freshman Taeyoung "David" Seo was named First Team All-Conference while Head Coach Donald Massman was named Skyline Coach of the Year.  Also earning honors were Robert Martini and Sean Mendyk, who were named the Second Team All-Conference.

The Skyline Champion Tournament was played over two days at Bethpage State Park. Old Westbury streaked up the leaderboard to earn second place, behind repeat champions Farmingdale State College, after sitting in fifth at the end of the first day of play.

Seo led the way, tying for third place overall, with strong support from Mendyk (7th place) and Martini (10th place). Rounding out the players who contributed to the team's success were Jarred Berenger and Liam Dall.

The First Team All-Conference honors capped a stellar first year of collegiate competition for Seo, who twice during the season was named the Skyline "Rookie of the Week."

For Massman, this was the second year in a row he was honored by the conference, after sharing the honor in 2022. Since his appointment as head coach of the Panthers in 2016, he has led the program to its most consistent, successful seasons. Prior to this season, he also helmed the team that earned the program's previous best finish, third place in 2021. has
