2023 Panthers Close Out Season With Loss to Valiants

Old Westbury, New York | October 24, 2023 |  The SUNY Old Westbury Panther women's soccer team completed its 2023 season with a final home game against the Manhattanville Valiants.

In a game shortened due to darkness, the Panthers lost to the Valiants 10-0, bringing the team's record to 7-11-0 overall and 3-8 in the Skyline Conference. The Panthers finished ninth in the 12-team conference.

The Manhattanville loss brought to an end a season that saw several significant achievements by the team and its players: 
  • The Panthers led the Skyline Conference in goals scored (63), assists (40) and total points (166) in 18 games.
  • Defensively, the team's goalkeepers averaged 7.44 saves per game (134 total saves), ranking fourth in the conference.
  • Freshman forward Alyse Then scored a conference-leading 30 goals, breaking the program single-season record for goal-scoring. 
  • Then also set a new program record for overall scoring with a conference-leading 69 points (30 goals, 9 assists). 
  • Senior midfielder Mia Almonte led the conference in assists (14) and placed fifth in goals scored (10) and second in total points (34).
  • Senior goalkeeper Natalie Intrieri ranked fourth in Skyline with an averagoe of 6.59 saves per game (112 total)
In closing its season, the Panthers saw the end of the collegiate soccer careers for six players: Almonte, Intrieri, Mikayla Crosier, Jessica Pedroza, Victoria Voboril, and Jennifer Zeron-Salmeron
