Men’s Soccer Dominates Farmingdale in 4-1 Victory on Saturday Afternoon

OLD WESTBURY, N.Y. – The SUNY Old Westbury men's soccer team defeated the Rams of Farmingdale State by a final score of 4-1 on Saturday afternoon.
 
The Panthers now advance to 6-8-1 on the season and sit at 2-7 in conference play.
 
The Panthers found success on both side of the field throughout the day. In the first half, the Panthers took five shots compared to Farmingdale's 14.
 
Henrik Ropstad scored the first goal of the game for the Panthers after a nice assist from Jeffrey Baires across the box. The Panthers held their 1-0 lead for the rest of the first half.
 
In the second half, the Rams struck first on a goal by Johnny Guillen just about 53 minutes into the match. With the score tied, both sides looked to break the game open.
 
Old Westbury found their stride offensively as Henrik Ropstad scored two consecutive goals for his second and third of the game respectively for the hat trick.
 
With a 3-1 lead, the Panthers added one more to the score board with just about nine minutes to go in the match. The final goal of the game came courtesy of Roobens Celine who was assisted by Christian Mathurin.
 
The Rams would not make a dent on the scoreboard and the Panthers were victorious by a final score of 4-1.
 
Henrik Ropstad had an incredible performance with four shots on goal, and three goals. Roobens Celine had one shot on goal and one goal. Christian Mathurin also had a shot on goal and had an assist.
 
In net, Andy Chacho had a strong afternoon. Chacho finished the match with 10 saves after facing 11 shots on goal.
 
Next up, the Panthers will play host to the Golden Eagles of St. Joseph's University- Long Island on Tuesday, October 22 at 3:30 PM. The match will take place at Panther Park.
