Men’s Soccer Taken Down by St. Joseph’s-Long Island on Tuesday

OLD WESTBURY, N.Y. – The SUNY Old Westbury men's soccer team was defeated by the Golden Eagles of St. Jospeh's-Long Island on Tuesday by a final score of 6-1. 
 
The Panthers now fall to 6-9-1 overall on the campaign and have a conference record of 2-8. 
 
From the start, the Golden Eagles controlled the game. The Golden Eagles scored their first goal of the game off a penalty kick, taken by Marc Tolkin. 
 
The Golden Eagles held their 1-0 lead for roughly five minutes before adding another goal courtesy of Devin Seara who was assisted by James Dacos and Jack Pulisic. 
 
Very soon after, Tolkin would strike again for his second goal of the afternoon to grow the SJLI lead to 3-0. 
 
The Golden Eagles went into halftime with a 3-0 lead over the Panthers. 
 
Right out of the break, the Panthers capitalized and scored a quick goal. The Panthers' goal came thanks to Tiago Tirado who scored off nice assists by Ismael Ruiz. And Maynor Rodriguez
 
With the score 3-1, the Golden Eagles were not done scoring.
 
The Golden Eagles would add on three more goals in the final 20 minutes of the match. 
 
Old Westbury could not respond and fell to SJLI by a final score of 6-1. 
 
As a team, the Panthers were only able to take four shots in each half for a total of eight throughout the match, seven of which were on-target.
 
Tiago Tirado scored the team's lone goal on one shot attempt. Henrik Ropstad, the reigning Conference Offensive Player of the Week, took a total of two shots, both on-goal. Maynor Rodriguez and Ismael Ruiz each finished with an assist. 
 
In net, Andy Chacho got the start and finished with one save after allowing three goals. Paul DeGennaro led the team in saves as he recorded five saves despite allowing three goals as well. 

Next up, the Panthers will play their final home game of the season. OW will welcome York to Panther Park for a non-conference match on Saturday, October 26 at 12 PM. Prior to the match, the Panthers will honor their senior student-athletes.
