Women's Soccer Defeats St. Joseph's-Brooklyn on Saturday

BROOKLYN N.Y. – The SUNY Old Westbury women's soccer team defeated the St. Joseph's University-Brooklyn Bears by a score of 1-0 on Saturday afternoon.
 
The Panthers' overall record is now 5-6-2 and they have a conference record of 3-2.
 
The Panthers would get out to an early start thanks to a goal from Jocelyn Forseth in the eighth minute of the match. Old Westbury would continue to be on top of the half taking 12 shots, eight of which were on target. 
 
OW went into halftime with a 1-0 lead over SJBK.
 
The second half was more even with shots still in favor of the Panthers, 4-2, but neither team would score. 
 
The Panthers would secure the conference victory over the Bears by a final score of 1-0.
 
Jocelyn Forseth was everywhere in this match as she totaled five shots on goal, while scoring a team high 10th goal on the year.
 
Eleni Petri also had a strong game with three shots on goal.
 
For Old Westbury, it was the program's first-time beating St. Joseph's-Brooklyn since 2019, where they won 4-0. It is also the second Panther clean sheet of the season, the only other one coming back on September 17, in the dominating 12-0 victory against Yeshiva. 
 
Up next for Old Westbury is a midweek home matchup against the University of Mount Saint Vincent, who sit tied at the top of the conference standings with a record of 4-0-1. Kick-off is set for 4 PM on Tuesday, October 8 at Panther Park.
