Women’s Basketball Taken Down by USMMA on Saturday

KINGS POINT, N.Y. – The SUNY Old Westbury women's basketball team was defeated by the Mariners of the United States Merchant Marine Academy on Saturday by a final score of 79-44. 
 
The Panthers now fall to 0-5 on the season and hold a Skyline Conference record of 0-2. 
 
As a team, throughout the game, the Panthers shot the ball just 30 percent from the floor. From behind-the-arc, Old Westbury converted on three of 20 shots. The team shot the ball 50 percent from the free-throw line. 
 
The Panthers took care of the ball as the team managed to only commit 10 turnovers while forcing 15 from USMMA. The Panthers scored 10 points off of turnovers. 
 
For OW, Jailah Pineda led the team in scoring as she finished the game with 21 points, three rebounds, four assists, and three steals. Maya Kama played well as she had 17 points, two rebounds, two assists, one block and three steals. 
 
Next up, the Panthers will continue Skyline Conference play and welcome the Golden Eagles of St. Joseph's-Long Island to the Clark Center. The game will take place on Tuesday, November, 28 at 7 PM.
