Game Recap: Women's Basketball |

Women’s Basketball Falls to St. Joseph’s-Long Island on Tuesday Night

OLD WESTBURY, N.Y. – The SUNY Old Westbury women's basketball team was defeated by the Golden Eagles of St. Joseph's University-Long Island on Tuesday night. The final score was 73-42 in favor of the Golden Eagles. 
 
The Panthers now fall to 0-6 overall on the season and 0-3 in conference play. 
 
The Panthers struggled against the offense of SJLI that shot just 37 percent from the floor and 29 percent from three-point range. Old Westbury managed to force 18 turnovers from the Golden Eagles while committing 24 themselves. The Panthers turnovers led to 24 points alone for SJLI.
 
OW shot the ball 23 percent from the floor and just 16 percent from behind the arc. 
 
Jailah Pineda led the team in scoring once again. Pineda finished the game with 16 points, six rebounds, two assists and three steals. Malaura Olivier had a strong night as she finished with 12 points, nine boards, one assist and a steal. Rianelly Estrella finished the game with seven points, three rebounds, and three steals. Brianne Belizaire led the Panthers in rebounds as she finished the game with 10 boards. 
 
Next up, the Panthers will hit the road and continue Skyline Conference play. Old Westbury will travel to take on the Bears of St. Joseph's-Brooklyn on Wednesday, December 4. That game is scheduled to tip off at 5:30 PM. Following that, the team will continue its road trip as they travel to Mount Saint Mary on Saturday, December 7.
