Women’s Volleyball Swept by Mount Saint Mary on Monday Night

OLD WESTBURY, N.Y. – The SUNY Old Westbury women's volleyball team was defeated by the Knights of Mount Saint Mary College on Monday night, 3-0.

The Panthers fall to 4-15 on the season and hold a conference record of 1-9.

In the opening set, the Panthers showed a solid attack, securing 12 kills as a team. Despite this, the Panthers would commit nine errors all together. The Knights played a cleaner set and would come out on top by a final score of 25-21.

The second set featured more of the same with a solid all-around attack from Old Westbury that included 15 total kills compared to the Knight's 13. Once again, Old Westbury's errors set them back. MSMC would take the second set by a final score of 25-23.

In what would be the final set, the Panthers struggled. Their own errors hurt them in the end as they accumulated 13 as a team. OW did have 10 kills and led MSMC in that regard. Despite their attacking efforts, the Panthers would fall short in the end and lose the final set, 25-18.

Stephanie Maser led the Panthers in kills once again as she recorded 17 kills and one ace. Stephanie Velez had seven kills and 14 digs. Amy Sanchez and Mariana Gamez finished with two services each.

Next up, the Panthers will play their final match of the season. The Panthers will play host to the Dolphins of the University of Mount Saint Vincent on Thursday, November 7 at 6 PM in the Clark Center Gymnasium. Prior to the match, the Panthers will honor and celebrate their senior student-athletes.
