Jailah Pineda Named Skyline Conference Rookie of the Week

NEW YORK, N.Y. – The Skyline Conference has announced their weekly award winners from Dec. 9- Dec. 15. Jailah Pineda has been named this week's Rookie of the Week for women's basketball. 
 
For the Panthers, the women's basketball team lost a hard-fought battle against the Panthers of Purchase College on Saturday by a final score of 67-66.

Pineda, a native of Cypress, California had a strong showing this week despite the Panthers falling short. Pineda continues to develop as a collegiate athlete, taking charge and leading the Panthers on the court.  
 
Against Lehman, Pineda recorded 31 points, six rebounds, five assists and a steal. Pineda went 5-8 from behind-the-arc. 
 
In the conference game against Purchase, Pineda kept the team within reach throughout the battle. Pineda finished with 30 points, nine rebounds, seven assists and four steals. 
 
Currently, Pineda ranks second overall in scoring in the entire Skyline Conference as she averages 18.4 points per game. Pineda has the third most assists per game as she averages 4.7 per game. Pineda also shines defensively as she has the fourth most steals in the conference thus far with a total of 27. 
 
Next up, Pineda and the women's basketball program will hit the road and face off against DI opponent, Wagner on Monday, December 30. Tip-off is scheduled for 2 PM.
