Game Recap: Women's Lacrosse |

Women's Lacrosse Defeated by St. Joseph's-Long Island on Saturday Afternoon

OLD WESTBURY, N.Y – The SUNY Old Westbury women's lacrosse team was defeated by the Golden Eagles of St. Joseph's University-Long Island on Saturday by a final score of 19-4. The Panthers fall to 1-3 on the year and 0-1 in conference play. 
 
This was the Panthers' first game on their home field this season. The team struggled in the early going and allowed the Golden Eagles to get off to a fast start. The Panthers found themselves trailing by double-digits with just over two minutes remaining in the first half. 
 
Going into halftime, the Golden Eagles led, 11-0. 
 
The Panthers scored the first goal of the second half as Natalie Garcia put one through the net in a man-up situation. 
 
After the Golden Eagles tacked on a few more goals the score was 16-1 going into the final quarter of play. 
 
Sarah Boubert had a strong fourth quarter as she scored two back-to-back goals to open the quarter and another goal with just under four minutes remaining. 
 
Despite the late efforts, the Panthers fell to the Golden Eagles by a score of 19-4. 
 
Sarah Boubert led the team in scoring and points. She finished with three goals and three points. Natalie Garcia was the only other Panther to put up points as she finished with one thanks to her goal. 
 
In the net, Kathleen Mackey finished the game with 10 saves. The Golden Eagles took a total of 29 shots on goal throughout the game. 
 
Next up for the Panthers will be a non-conference game against Cedar Crest College. The two teams will face off at Panther Park on SUNY Old Westbury's campus. The game will begin at 4 PM on Thursday, April 4.
