Women's Lacrosse Struggles Against the United States Merchant Marine Academy on Tuesday Night

KINGS POINT, N.Y. - The SUNY Old Westbury women's lacrosse team lost to the United States Merchant Marine Academy (USMMA) on Tuesday night by a final score of 19-0.

The Panthers fall to 1-4 on the year with a conference record of 0-2.

The team struggled in the first quarter when the Mariners went up by double-digits. The Panthers were able to slow the pace down in the second quarter only conceding two goals.

The Marines had a halftime lead by a score of 13-0.

The Panthers saw a strong game by goaltender Kathleen Mackey who saved a game-high 10 shots. Mackey now has double-digit saves in four of the team's five games this season.

The second half was won by the Mariners who scored four goals in the third quarter and two more in the fourth. 

Joann Williams saw the main offensive output as she led the team in shots with three and had two shots on goal. 

The Panthers also had nice moments throughout the game from Sarah Boubert and Annabella Runyan who finished with one forced turnover each.

Next up, the Panthers are scheduled to host Cedar Crest on Thursday, April 4 at 4 PM. Following that, the team will return to conference play as they will travel to take on the Dolphins of the University of Mount Saint VIncent on Saturday, April 6 at 12 PM.
