Women's Lacrosse Falls to the University of Mount Saint Vincent on Saturday

RIVERDALE, N.Y. – The SUNY Old Westbury women's lacrosse team was taken down by the Dolphins of the University of Mount Vincent on Saturday afternoon. The final score was 17-4. With this loss, the Panthers fall to 1-5 on the year and 0-3 in conference play.

The game got off to a hot start for the Dolphins as they found themselves ahead by seven goals at the end of the first quarter. Despite the deficit, the Panthers managed to score a goal on a nice play by Sarah Boubert who connected on the 'man-down' goal.
 
With a score of 8-1 going into the second quarter, the Panthers continued to struggle as it came to stopping the Dolphin's offense. UMSV put up five unanswered goals before the half. The Dolphins held a 13-1 lead going into halftime.
 
The Panthers seemed to have found a grove in the third quarter as they scored a combined three goals compared to the Dolphin's lone goal of the quarter. Natalie Garcia and Geanelle Sam scored unassisted goals while Joann Williams scored a man-up goal for OW.
 
Heading into the final period of play, the Panthers offense lost its momentum. The Panthers could not find the net again. As for the Dolphins, they scored another three unanswered goals. The Dolphins held on and walked away comfortably with the victory. UMSV defeated OW by a final score of 17-4.
 
For the Panthers, the only players with points were the team's four goal scorers, Sarah Boubert, Geanelle Sam, Joann Williams and Natalie Garcia. In net, Goalkeeper Kathleen Mackey finished with seven saves on the day.
 
Next up for the Panthers will be another road game. The team will travel to take on the Rams of Farmingdale State College on Wednesday, April 10 at 7 PM. Following that, the team will return to Panther Park to play host to Manhattanville College on Saturday, April 13 at 1 PM.
