Men's Soccer Taken Down By Lehman on Wednesday Afternoon

OLD WESTBURY, N.Y. – The SUNY Old Westbury men's soccer team was defeated by the Lightening of Lehman College on Wednesday afternoon by a final score of 2-0. 
 
With this loss, the Panthers fall to 2-2 on the young season.
 
The game's first goal came for Lehman as Mohamed Ali Sogoba found the back of the net. The Lightening took an early 1-0 lead. 
 
Despite several strong looks in their offensive zone, the Panthers were unable to find the back of the net and were held scoreless in the first half. 
 
Lehman went into halftime with a 1-0 lead over OW. 
 
While the Panthers fought hard to combat the deficit, they were unsuccessful through a bulk of the half. 

The Lightening scored their second goal of the afternoon thanks to Bright Takyi. He was assist by Hameed Gado. 
 
The Panthers were unable to come back and respond and ultimately fell to the Lightening by a final score of 2-0. 
 
The reigning Skyline Conference Co-Rookie of the Week, Henrik Ropstad, led the team in shots on goal with three. Tiago Tirado, Ruben Teixeira, and Jessi Vasquez each took a shot on goal. 
 
In the net, Andy Chacho was the starting goalkeeper. Chacho finished the game with three saves. In the final 14 minutes, Paul DeGennaro entered the game and picked up one save. 
 
The Panthers now fall to 2-2 on the season. Next up, the team will remain at home to play host to Medgar Evers on Saturday, September 14 at 11 AM. Following that, the team will stay at home and host Five Towns on Sunday, September 15 at 1:30 PM.
