Women’s Soccer Defeats Lehman on Saturday Afternoon

BRONX, N.Y. – The SUNY Old Westbury women's soccer team took down the Lightning of Lehman College on Saturday afternoon by a final score of 3-2.
 
With this victory, the Panthers improve to 2-3 on the season and are now on a two-game win streak.
 
The Panthers found themselves down first as Lehman scored the first goal of the contest. Emily Huerta scored for the Lightning just over 25 minutes in.
 
With Lehman controlling a 1-0 lead, the Panthers answered right back just about four minutes later.
 
Jocelyn Forseth took a shot that went off the post and allowed Eleni Petri to find the back of the net for OW's first goal.
 
Just about five minutes before the midway break, Petri and Forseth switched roles as it was Petri assisting Forseth for the team's second goal.
 
The Panthers possessed a 2-1 lead going into halftime.
 
In the second half, the Panthers brought the intensity on both sides of the ball and limited Lehman's ability to attack.
 
The Panthers third goal came by way of Stefany Donnelly who scored just over 52 minutes into the game.
 
Neither side would score for the remainder of the game and the Panthers held on to secure the victory. Old Westbury would defeat Lehman by a final score of 3-2.
 
As a team, the Panthers took 10 shots with six of them being on target.
 
Jocelyn Forseth took a total of three shots with two of them being on goal. Forseth scored one goal. Stefany Donnelly scored a goal on one shot on goal. Eleni Petri continued to shine on offense as she took four shots with two on goal. Petri finished with one goal and one assist.
 
First-Year Goalkeeper Kristen Gallagher continued her strong play. Gallagher finished the game with one save after facing just three shots on goal.
 
Next up, the Panthers will return home and play host to the Sound of Five Towns tomorrow, September 15 at 11 AM. Following that, the Panthers will remain at home and open conference play against Yeshiva on Tuesday at 4:30 PM.
