Women's Soccer Falls Short to USMMA on Saturday Afternoon

KINGS POINT, N.Y. – The SUNY Old Westbury women's soccer team lost to the United States Marine Merchant Academy Mariners by a score of 4-0 on Saturday.

The Panthers overall record now moves to 3-4-1, and their conference record is now 1-1.

The Mariners got out to an early start scoring two goals in the first four minutes of the contest, courtesy of Natalie Colpoys and Ainsley Carton. USMMA would close the half strong with their third goal in the 37th minute.

The second half was lower-scoring, but the Marines would add to their lead with a goal in the 61st minute, which would be enough to secure the win.

It was a big game for the Panthers' Goalkeeper Kristen Gallagher, who totaled 10 saves on the day. Her average now sits at seven saves per game.

Old Westbury also saw attacking opportunities from Defenders Jennifer Pasquariello and Edelyn Garcia who both had one shot on target in the match.

Next up for the Panthers is a return home for another Skyline matchup to take on Maritime College. Last season's matchup ended in a big win for the Panthers who triumphed 7-1. Kick-off is set for 4:30 PM on Wednesday, September 25 at Panther Park.
