Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

Men’s Soccer Victorious Over Brooklyn College on Saturday Afternoon

BROOKLYN, N.Y.- The SUNY Old Westbury men's soccer team came out on top in Saturday Afternoon's matchup against the Bulldogs of Brooklyn College. The Panthers defeated the Bulldogs by a final score of 2-0. 
 
The Panthers scored their first goal of the game just under 32 minutes in. The goal came by way of freshman striker, Henrik Ropstad
 
Just about seven minutes later, the Panthers would score again thanks to Ropstad who had his second goal of the afternoon. Ropstad scored off a nice assist from both Jessi Vasquez and Christian Mathurin
 
With a two-goal lead, the Panthers went into halftime ahead, 2-0. 
 
Neither side would score in the second half as the Panthers' defense would hold strong. 
 
The Panthers would hold on to their lead and come out on top by a final score of 2-0. 
 
As a team, the Panthers finished with a total of eight shots with five of them being on goal. Old Westbury had five corner kicks as well. 
 
Henrik Ropstad scored the two goals for the Panthers and took a total of three shots throughout the game. Ropstad now has three goals on the season. Jessi Vasquez and Christian Mathurin each had an assist on the second Ropstad goal. 
 
In goal, Andy Chacho recorded two saves on a total of two shots on goal. The Bulldogs took a total of 10 shots in the entire contest. 
 
Next up, the Panthers will take on Lehman College at home on Wednesday, September 11. That game is scheduled to kick off at 3:30 PM. Following that, the team will remain at home and host Medgar Evers for a non-conference game on Saturday, September 14.
