Men’s Basketball Unsuccessful Against Yeshiva in Conference Battle on Saturday Night

NEW YORK, N.Y. – The SUNY Old Westbury men's basketball team was defeated by the Maccabees of Yeshiva University on Saturday night. The final score was 81-62 in favor of Yeshiva.
 
The Panthers now fall to 7-9 overall on the season and 2-6 in the Skyline Conference.
 
Both sides went back and forth for the first few minutes with neither side taking a significant lead. The Panthers found their largest lead of the first half with just under six minutes thanks to a layup from Chris Smith.
 
The Panthers remained in control of the lead, despite allowing a small comeback by the Maccabees. Old Westbury went into halftime with a two-point lead. The score at the break was 34-32 in favor of OW.
 
Old Westbury struggled in the early going of the second half offensively. Yeshiva mounted a quick comeback and grew a lead of their own. The Maccabees led by 12 points with 14:37 to go in the second half. The Panthers were unable to stop the run of the Maccabees.
 
Yeshiva's offense proved to be too much for the Panthers in the second half. Old Westbury fell short to Yeshiva by a final score of 81-62.
 
As a team, the Panthers shot the ball 39 percent from the floor, 18 percent from three-point range and 54 percent from the free-throw line.
 
Jamari Williams led the team in scoring. Williams finished the game with 15 points, six rebounds, two assists, one block and two steals. Amadi Lee-Kane recorded 14 points, eight rebounds, three assists, one block and two steals. Bradley Young grabbed six boards and also finished with 12 points, one assist, one block and two steals.
 
Next up, the Panthers will continue Skyline Conference play as the Gryphons of Sarah Lawrence come to town. The Panthers will host the Gryphons of Sarah Lawrence on Wednesday, January 29 at 6 PM in the Clark Center Gymnasium.
