Women’s Soccer Takes Down Maritime at Senior Day on Saturday

OLD WESTBURY, N.Y. -  The SUNY Old Westbury women's soccer team defeated the Privateers of SUNY Maritime on Saturday. The Panthers were victorious, 3-0. 
 
Old Westbury improves to 5-4 on the campaign and sits at 2-3 in conference play 
 
Prior to the match, the Panthers celebrated Senior Day and recognized their six senior student-athletes. 
 
Old Westbury outshot Maritime in the opening half, 13-2. Neither team would find the back of the net in the first half, leading to a 0-0 first half score. 
 
It would be the Panthers who got the scoring started as Stefany Donnelly scored a goal on a nice assist from Briana Sayoc
 
Holding a 1-0 lead, the Panthers scored another goal just under the 80-minute mark thanks to a strong kick from several yards outside the box from Jamie Garcia Sorto
 
Donnelly would score another goal with just about three minutes to go in the game. Donnelly was assisted by Skylar Catrambone. 
 
Old Westbury would hold on to take the match, 3-0 and shutout Maritime. 
 
Stefany Donnelly dominated with two goals and three shots on-goal. Jamie Garcia Sorto scored a goal. Eleni Petri took three shots on goal while Taryn Hilke took four shots on goal. 
 
In net, Kristen Gallagher recorded three saves after only facing three shots on-goal and five total shots. Gallagher adds yet another shutout to her resume on the season. 
 
Next up, the Panthers will continue conference play as they get set to host the Bears of St. Joseph's-Brooklyn on Tuesday, October 7. The Bears and the Panthers will face off from Panther Park at 3:30 PM.
