Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

Women’s Soccer Takes Down St. Joseph’s-Brooklyn on Tuesday Afternoon

OLD WESTBURY, N.Y. -  The SUNY Old Westbury women's soccer team defeated the Bears of St. Joseph's University-Brooklyn on Tuesday. The final score was 2-0 in favor of Old Westbury. 
 
The Panthers improve to 6-4 on the season and 3-3 in Skyline Conference play. 
 
OW would score the game's first goal as Milagros Guevara Mendez found the back of the net just under 16 minutes in. She would be assisted on a nice pass from Taryn Hilke
 
Old Westbury continued to dominate the Bears in the shot column as the Panthers took 20 first half shots compared to two by the Bears. 
 
The Panthers held a 1-0 lead at halftime. 
 
In the second half, Eleni Petri found the back of the net for Old Westbury. Petri was assisted by Jasmine Roldan to make it 2-0. 
 
Old Westbury continued to attack offensively adding another 21 shots in the second half.
 
The Panthers would hold on to defeat the Bears 2-0. 
 
Milagros Guevara Mendez scored a goal for the Panthers. Eleni Petri finished with a goal and five shots on-goal. Jamie Garcia Sorto took eight shots on-goal and 10 total shots. Jasmine Roldan finished with an assist. Taryn Hilke played well and recorded an assist, five shots on-goal and nine total shots. 
 
In net, Kristen Gallagher finished with five saves after she faced just five shots the entire game. Gallagher adds yet another conference shutout to her season resume. 
 

Next up, the Panthers will remain at home as they host USMMA on Saturday, October 11. The Panthers will host the Mariners from Panther Park with the opening kick set for 11 AM.
