Men’s Soccer Dominates St. Joseph’s-Brooklyn on Monday

BROOKLYN, N.Y. – The SUNY Old Westbury men's soccer team was victorious on Monday night over the Bears of St. Joseph's University-Brooklyn. The Panthers took the match, 6-0.
 
Old Westbury improves to 5-6 on the year and sits at 3-3in Skyline Conference play.
 
Coming off a big weekend win over Maritime, the Panthers' offense was dominant yet again. Old Westbury scored the first goal of the game just about 90 seconds into the match. The first goal came from Reilly Minor who was assisted by Henrik Ropstad.
 
Holding a 1-0 lead, just below the 20-minute mark, the Panthers added another goal thanks to Johan Gran who scored on a nice assist from Isaac Cardenas.
 
The third goal of the half for OW came by way of an own goal by the Bears.
 
A few moments later, Duan Benjamin found the back of the net for the Panthers on a penalty kick.
 
At the end of the first half, the Panthers led the Bears 4-0. Old Westbury out shot SJBK, 17-3.
 
In the second half, Isaiah Cardenas would get the scoring started once again to make it a 5-0 game in favor of Old Westbury.
 
With just under five minutes remaining in regulation, Christian Pachari would score his first goal of the season. Pachari would be assisted by Oscar Benitez.
 
The Panthers would go on to defeat the Bears by a final score of 6-0.
 
Johan Gran finished the game with a goal, four shots on-goal and five total shots. Reilly Minor played well as he recorded a goal and took three shots on-goal. Isaiah Cardenas, Cristian Pachari and Duan Benjamin each had a goal.
 
In net, Vedant Sortur got the start and recorded two saves. He would face just four shots throughout the game. Martino Gjomemo also appeared in net for just about 28 minutes.
 
Next up, the Panthers continue Skyline Conference play. The Panthers will play host to
USMMA on Saturday, October 11. That game will take place from Panther Park at 1:30 PM.
