The SUNY Old Westbury women's basketball team fell to the Gryphons of Sarah Lawrence this afternoon, 80-39, from the Campbell Sports Center in Bronxville, New York. The Panthers sit at 1-5 on the season and 0-5 in Skyline Conference play in the loss while Sarah Lawrence improves to 5-4 (2-2 Skyline).
Old Westbury was led by 14 points and eight rebounds from
Kasey Coppola, who also added a block.
Sakhmet Lewis reached double digits with 10 points and seven rebounds while adding two steals and two assists.
Aissata Kone's three assists paced the Panthers while
Sonasia Walker led with three steals.
The home team opened with the contest's first 13 points, creating a hole that the Panthers were unable to climb out of. After trailing 46-14 at the halftime break, Old Westbury shot 41 percent from the floor, led by eight points from Lewis on two three-pointers and a pair of foul shots.
The Panthers remain on the road as they take on St. Joseph's Long Island on Tuesday, December 9, at 7:00 pm from Patchogue, New York.
