Softball Defeated at THE Spring Games Against Coe and St. Lawrence on Wednesday

CLERMONT, Fla – The SUNY Old Westbury softball team was defeated by the Kohawks of Coe College and the Saints of St. Lawrence University on Wednesday. The final scores were 9-1 and 8-2, respectively.
 
The Panthers now drop to 0-6 on the 2025 campaign.
 
Game One- SUNY Old Westbury (1) – Coe (9) [Five Innings]
 
Coe found their groove offensively first as they scored three runs in the bottom of the second inning on three hits including two singles and a double.

With a 3-0 lead, the Kohawks piled on more runs in the bottom of the third as they scored twice off of two errors by the Panthers.
 
Old Westbury responded in the top of the fourth inning thanks to a single up the middle from Madison Danin to score Gianna Pulsonetti.
 
With the score at 5-1, Coe managed to break the game open with a triple in the bottom of the fourth and a single to left field that would make it a 8-1 game. The Kohawks scored their final run of the game in the bottom of the fourth on a drop third strike put out that allowed the runner to score from third base.
 
Coe managed to walk away with the five-inning victory by a final score of 9-1.
 
Madison Danin and Alaina Reilly combined for the only two hits for the Panthers. Danin also notched an RBI.
 
Layla Ramos threw four innings for the Panthers. Ramos struck out four batters while allowing nine hits and seven earned runs.

Game Two- SUNY Old Westbury (2) – St. Lawrence (8)
 
The Panthers' second game of the day featured many of the same struggles as the offense was slow to start.
 
St. Lawrence got going first in the scoring column as they put two runs on the board in the top of the third inning.
 
The Saints then grew their lead even further in the fourth inning, adding three runs and then once again in the sixth inning, adding another three runs.
 
With a 8-0 lead, the Panthers needed to respond to keep the game going.
 
 Madison Danin connected again for a double to center field for 2 RBI that would score Stella Apuzzi (who pinch ran) and Juliana Vasquez.
 
Old Westbury was unable to put together any more hits and fell short to the Saints, 8-2.
 
Alaina Reilly went 2-3 at the dish. Zoe Rivera, Layla Ramos and Kaylin McDonald each recorded a hit. Madison Danin went 1-3 with two RBIs.
 
Hailey Ragozine threw all seven innings for the Panthers. Ragozine allowed four earned runs and 12 hits while striking out a batter.
 
Next up, the Panthers return to action at THE Spring Games, tomorrow, March 20. The Panthers are set to face off against Keene State and Endicott at 10 AM and 12:45 PM, respectively.
