Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

Women’s Soccer Defeats York in Home Opener

OLD WESTBURY, N.Y. – The SUNY Old Westbury women's soccer team defeated the Cardinals of York College on Wednesday afternoon. The final score was 4-0 in favor of the Panthers. 
 
Old Westbury now sits at 2-1 overall on the season. The Panthers hold a 1-0 mark in conference play. 
 
The Panthers scored their first goal of the game thanks to Eleni Petri who was assisted by Briana Sayoc at the 31:29 mark. 
 
OW would tack on one more goal before halftime thanks to Dorla Miguel Leiva who was assisted by Skylar Catrambone.
 
The Panthers went into halftime with a 2-0 lead over the Cardinals. 
 
In the second half, Catrambone found the back of the net herself to make it a 3-0 game. 
 
Old Westbury scored once more thanks to Taryn Hilke who was assisted by Jamie Garcia Sorto at the 69:09 mark. 
 
The game was called after 70 minutes of play by the referees due to player number issues by York. 
 
The Panthers would take the victory, 4-0 in the midweek non-conference match against York. 
 
Eleni Petri finished with a goal and 12 total shots. Dorla Miguel Leiva and Taryn Hilke each finished with a goal. Skylar Catrambone recorded a goal and an assist. Briana Sayoc and Jamie Garcia Sorto each recorded an assist. 
 
Next up, the Panthers will remain at home and continue non-conference play. Old Westbury will host CCNY on Saturday, September 13 at 11 AM.
