Men’s Soccer Takes Down Brooklyn College in Non-Conference Shutout

OLD WESTBURY, N.Y. -  The SUNY Old Westbury men's soccer team was victorious over the Bulldogs of Brooklyn College on Saturday afternoon. The final score was 3-0 in favor of the Panthers. 
 
Old Westbury now holds a 3-2 overall record. The team is 1-0 in conference play. 
 
The Panthers got going early in the scoring column. Henrik Ropstad found the back of the net thanks to a nice pass from Jeffery Baires. 
 
Just about eight minutes later, the Panthers and Ropstad would score yet again. Ropstad was assisted by Ashel Santos who placed the ball well.
 
The Panthers would enter halftime with a 2-0 lead over the Bulldogs. 
 
In the second half, the Panthers defense held strong to three shot attempts by the Bulldogs. 
 
Johan Gran found the back of the net for the Panthers third goal. Gran was assisted by Ropstad. 
 
Old Westbury would hold on to defeat Brooklyn by a final score of 3-0. 
 
Henrik Ropstad was dominant once again. Ropstad finished the day with two goals and an assist in just 59 minutes. Johan Gran would score a goal and took two shots. Ashel Santos and Jeffery Baires each recorded an assist. Abdiel Vargas saw four shots with two being on-target. 
 
In net, Paul DeGennaro finished with three saves after facing just three shots on goal and four total shots.  
 
Next up, Old Westbury will remain at home for another non-conference battle. The Panthers will play host to the Raptors of Bard College on Wednesday, September 17. The Panthers and Raptors will face off at 3:30 PM.
